The Global Consortium on Yoga Therapy was launched in July 2018 in Sendai, Japan. After 2 days of meetings hosted by the Japan Yoga Therapy Society, 36 representatives of yoga therapy organizations from 13 countries agreed on the importance of creating a platform to facilitate world-wide discussion and cooperation to develop the field of yoga therapy. The Consortium is currently a network of yoga therapy organizations and professionals from around the world. The founding meeting was characterized by genuine respect and heartfelt connections across lineages and cultures. A shared love for yoga and excitement for the potential yoga therapy has to contribute to the health and wellbeing of people around the world brought everyone together. It is in this spirit that this Consortium was established and is moving forward.
